It appears as though Travis Scott’s first in-ring action in WWE has left one star in trouble.

The rapper has been dipping a proverbial toe in the water of the wild world of professional wrestling this year, making headlines wherever he goes.

In January, in time for WWE’s high-profile $5billion launch on streaming giant Netflix, the musician accompanied Jey Uso to the ring in one of the most stunning entrances in recent memory.

Earlier this month he had the best seat in the house at WWE Elimination Chamber for one of the most shocking on-screen twists in wrestling history.

After decades as a hero to millions of fans worldwide, John Cena took his retirement tour of 2025 to a whole new level by turning heel – becoming a bad guy.

He did so, too, in the most stunning of styles, by turning his back on Cody Rhodes, the current WWE Undisputed Champion, with a brutal beatdown administered in the middle of the ring.

It was all, so the story goes, the brainchild of The Rock, who clearly appears aligned to Cena – one of his own storied rivals – with Scott thrown in the mix for good measure.

The 33-year-old even stuck the boot in on Rhodes himself – or at least the palm of his hand, delivering a stinging slap to the side of the champ’s head and ear that left fans on social media wincing.

Far from delivered with the care and skill that allows wrestlers to go about most of their work, the shot looked as real as they come, one fan noting: “Nobody told Travis Scott that wrestling isn’t real, he punched the f*** out of Cody Rhodes.”

A new report appears to support that, too, with the Wrestling Observer Newsletter going as far as to note that Rhodes suffered a legitimate injury in the in-ring segment.

“Cody got hurt [and] I’m pretty sure it was Travis Scott that did it.” Meltzer said. “I heard he had a busted eardrum and a black eye.”

Quite whether any such injury to Rhodes will halt his momentum in WWE or this stunning storyline remains to be seen, but it’s clear the champ was the furthest thing from Scott’s mind as he ventured backstage at Elimination Chamber.

In new footage shared on social media by WWE Head of Creative and Chief Content Officer Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque, the rapper was seen raving about the appearance and the fun he’d had playing the ‘bad guy.’

Even Levesque got caught up in the moment, embracing Scott as he emerged back through the curtain, saying: “How fun is that s***?”

In response, the star went on: “It was so crazy, in the ring I was like: ‘…I think we ’bout to do straight bad guy… it’s about to hit.”

In a hint towards Scott potentially undertaking more physicality in future, Levesque added: “What until you’re in there doing it,” to which the producer hit back: “That’s what I’m saying, I’ve already seen it, just off of that little rip… I’m already hooked.”

The Rock then burst back through the curtain and hugged Scott before the three celebrated further.

While the mood was buoyant backstage on Saturday, the verdict from fans to the clip was less than joyous, many of them instantly bringing it back to Rhodes and the strife caused by that almighty slap.

“This after he *****slapped our GOAT,” remarked one, while another bemoaned: “What about the reports that he murdered Cody Rhodes.”

A further reply hinted at some Scott needing to swallow some payback, saying: “Travis one of my favorite artists of all time but he needs to take an all time celebrity bump when its time.”

A third lauded Triple H’s timing, saying: “What a troll man!! The timing of this post.”

The buzz created by WWE over the last couple of years, not least in 2025 so far has been sizable and, no matter what’s to follow, it appears Travis Scott isn’t likely to be the last to be bitten by the wrestling bug.
