Joe Hart’s unique tattoos will undoubtedly become their own talking point on Match of the Day this season.
The former England goalkeeper showed off his punditry skills at Euro 2024 this summer but found that he was the one making the headlines.
Fans questioned Hart’s tattoos after his first BBC appearanceBBC
Hart – who regularly appeared pitch side at the tournament in Germany as a pundit – is now becoming a greater part of BBC’s team.
The 37-year-old will appear as a studio pundit on Match of the Day during the 2024/25 season, following Ian Wright’s exit after 27 years.
Hart impressed while covering England’s run to the final, but it’s expected that again it won’t just be his words on TV that will send him viral over the Premier League season!
What do Joe Hart’s tattoos mean?
Now-retired Hart has multiple tattoos on his arms, shoulders and legs and all of them are completely blacked out.
He has two huge black hoops on his right forearm and another dark tattoo over his shoulder while on his left wrist, he has another two rings.
On Instagram, Hart has also shown off more hoops on his right ankle.
The shoulder tattoo in particular seems to be shaped like body armour and that’s what he called it on social media in 2019.
Thanking his tattoo artist Hanu Mantra, he wrote: “You are the man @hanumantra thank you, this is the only time of year I could take this on so I appreciate you fitting me in and smashing it!!
“I got my armour on now… let’s see what’s next. Not everyone’s taste I understand that but this definitely represents me and thank you for making it happen.”
Hart hasn’t revealed a particular meaning behind them, however, he admitted that the tattoos represent him.

In that same post from five years ago, the former Manchester City shot-stopper admitted it wasn’t everyone’s taste and that is certainly the case at Euro 2024.
After Hart’s appearance on BBC One at England’s opener in Germany, one fan wrote: “What on earth are Joe Hart’s tattoos just then.”
Another said: “What the hell has Joe Hart done. Please tell me that these are not tattoos omg”
“Still thinking about Joe Hart’s tattoos,” a third supporter wrote the day after the game.

Hart will hope that maybe a few more viewings of the tattoos on Match of the Day will win some fans over.
“I’m very excited, very proud, and looking forward to growing into an incredible role on something that I grew up watching,” Hart said.
“I want to try and give back as much as I can from the career I’ve had and keep learning.
“I’m thrilled to be in an around an incredible set up, learning first and foremost in a new part of my life.”
