Max Verstappen’s Red Bull is set to be white this weekend as he bids for his first win of the season at the Japanese Grand Prix.

The Dutchman is looking for his fifth consecutive drivers’ title, but it hasn’t been a great start.

He is yet to win a race this year, with McLaren claiming both Grand Prix so far.

However, Verstappen is still second in the standings and will hope his white Red Bull can inspire him to victory.

Of course, his new teammate Yuki Tsunoda will also be in a white car after replacing Liam Lawson.

Why are the Red Bulls white at Japanese Grand Prix?

The Red Bull cars are set to be white this weekend to pay respects to Honda.

The Japanese car manufacturer and Red Bull started to work together in 2018 when Honda produced the engine for the Torro Rosso.

They then became Red Bull’s engine manufacturers in 2019, and in that time, there has been four drivers’ championships and two constructors, so it has been a hugely successful partnership.

However, this is the last season they are working together, with Red Bull starting a deal with Ford in 2026.

Honda are also entering as their own team.

But with this being the final Japanese Grand Prix working together, Red Bull decided to honour their long-time partners.

The design is inspired by the RA272, which was the car Honda won their first Grand Prix with in 1965.

The design recreates the Japanese flag and features the ‘H’ logo on the nose.

Speaking about the decision to go with this design, Team Principal and CEO Christian Horner said: “Our relationship with Honda deserves celebration, it has been one of continued success and brought the team one of the most triumphant and dominant periods in our history.

“Max has won four world titles with a Honda power unit, and the team have lifted two Constructors’ titles. In addition, Honda’s reliability enabled it to complete the most successful season in the sport’s history in 2023.

“This livery is a tribute to Honda’s success in the sport and the final year of what has been a thoroughly enjoyable partnership. I am looking forward to seeing it out on track.”

Koji Watanabe, President of Honda Racing Corporation (HRC), added: “It is quite moving to see the RA272 tribute livery on the latest Red Bull Racing machine, in the final year of Honda and Red Bull’s partnership. Our successful path will continue to shine in the history of F1.”
