NEC fans thought Paul Mucureezi had given them a lead in the 51st minute as their side took on Blacks Power in the Stanbic Uganda Cup only for the referee to rule it out.
The hosts won a penalty which was taken by Mucureezi sending goalkeeper Emmanuel Odongkara the wrong way but the referee, despite appearing to award a goal at first changed mind after confrontation from the visiting players.
Fans were left in awe and the debate went on to socials as FUFA TV had the incident recorded and posted.
Here is to why the goal was disallowed; “The ball is in play when it is kicked and clearly moves. The kicker must not play the ball again until it has touched another player.
“The penalty kick is completed when the ball stops moving, goes out of play or the referee stops play for any offence.”
Mucureezi slipped as he took the penalty and the ball hit his left foot from the right and that was violation of the rules given that explanation above.
Innocent Maduka and youngster Joshua Omara scored later to stun the hosts and dumped them out of the competition.
Last season, they reached the final losing to eventual winners Kitara at Mutesa II stadium, Wankulukuku.
