Nassir Little has joined the Miami Heat on a one-year veteran minimum deal.
He will fight for a roster spot in a busy wing room that includes Jimmy Butler, Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Josh Richardson, and Duncan Robinson.
Little’s $2,425,403 contract is believed to contain few guarantees as Miami execs battle the salary cap.
But regardless of his fate in South Beach, the 24-year-old will be earning a salary until 2030 thanks to his former team the Phoenix Suns.
Little was waived in August alongside E.J. Liddell, with the Suns desperate for cap relief.
Phoenix picked up the 2018 All American Game MVP from the Portland Trail Blazers as part of the blockbuster three-way trade that saw Damian Lillard head to the Milwaukee Bucks.
The Suns inherited the $28million contract Little signed with Portland in 2022.
He appeared in 45 games for Phoenix – struggling with a knee injury during the second half of the season and averaging just 3.4 points.
The franchise attempted to trade him during the offseason, but nobody was willing to take on his bumper contract.
Suns bosses opted to stretch and waive the former first-round pick out of North Carolina, which spreads his remaining money over double the length of his contract plus one year.
The former Tar Heels standout will now rake in $3,107,143 a year until 2031, while his cap hit for next season drops from $6.75million in a boost for Phoenix.
The Heat were beaten by the Boston Celtics in the first round of the NBA playoffs earlier this year.

Curry and the Warriors are going through something of a rebuild
Boston won the series 4-1 and went on to win the Championship.
Trade rumours have surrounded Miami’s star player Butler over the offseason with the Golden State Warriors strongly tipped to make a move.
The 35-year-old is a potential free agent in 2025 and there have been no signs of an extension.
Speaking on the The TK Show, Sam Amick of The Athletic suggested that Golden State had probably sounded out a deal.
“You need the wheels to fall off somewhere. Not free agency-wise, talking trade-wise,” he said.
“Jimmy Butler is going to be a free agent next summer. Didn’t get an extension done.
“The Warriors, as you know, have interest there and I think probably made a couple calls during the summer.”
