The Wallabies secured a thrilling 42-37 win over England to end nine years without a win at Twickenham.

A try from Max Jorgensen after the 80-minute mark sealed a spectacular win for Australia, as Joe Schmidt’s side recorded their first victory over England on English soil since the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

Jorgensen’s last-gasp try capped off a frantic few minutes in which the lead switched hands multiple times.

Wallabies winger Andrew Kellaway put the visitors ahead 35-30 when he capitalised on a loose pass on the halfway line and raced away for a five-pointer.

However, England would hit back two minutes later through Maro Itoje as he bundled over the line from just in front to give the hosts a 37-35 lead.

But it would be a knock-on from Itoje from the final kick-off that opened the door for Australia to pull off a miraculous final play.

The Wallabies patiently worked the ball forward and towards the left before Len Ikitau burst down the sideline and offloaded to Jorgensen, who sprinted into open space and swan-dived over the line.

Noah Lolesio’s conversion added the icing on the cake to cap off one of the Wallabies’ greatest victories in recent years.

In another crushing twist for Steve Borthwick’s side, England had never scored as many points as they did and still lost at Twickenham.

Speaking after the contest, England skipper Jamie George lamented his team’s inability to capitalise on a blistering start in which they led 15-3 for the first 25 minutes.

“The blueprint of how we wanted to play was in the first 20 minutes of the game, we put Australia under a lot of pressure,” George told TNT Sports.

“Sometimes in a Test match like that, you think the job is done. We took our foot off the gas.

“You’ve got to give credit to Australia. They were very good tonight… but leaking 42 points at home is unacceptable.

“We can’t keep doing that. And it will be a tough one to watch back.”

After a bright start to the contest, England slowly lost control as the Wallabies scored twice in the space of eight minutes late in the first half before Noah Lolesio drilled a penalty on the stroke of halftime to give the visitors a 20-18 lead at the break.

The Aussies picked up right where they left off as Jeremy Williams crossed over in the corner in the 51st minute.

Their lead soon extend to 10 off the boot of Lolesio two minutes later, but England soon came roaring back thanks to substitute Ollie Sleightholme.

The 24-year-old winger scored his first and second tries for England to erase the deficit and put England 30-28 with 11 minutes remaining.

But five frantic, frenetic and quite frankly bonkers minutes later, it was Australia who were jumping for joy in front of a shell-shocked Twickenham.
