Reigning world champion Luke Humphries is defending his title in Leicester with pre-tournament favourite Luke Littler eliminated in the first round.
The rules for this event are very different to the usual and Germany’s Ricardo Pietreczko has already fallen victim to forgetting about the changes.

World Grand Prix Darts 2024: Format explained
As mentioned, this tournament is unique and that is because it’s the only event that enforces a double start.
This means players must both start and finish on a double or bullseye – something that Pietreczko let slip from his mind.
A player will only start scoring points in a leg once they have hit a double, with the points from that double counting as their first scoring dart.
It is a knockout tournament, with one defeat meaning a player will be eliminated.
Each game is contested over the best of three legs in the First Round, best of five sets in the Second Round and quarter-finals, seven sets in the Semis and nine in the Final.

The pot will be shared at each round of the tournament, with the prize getting bigger depending on when players are eliminated.
