Joe Rogan got caught up in one of Fear Factor’s infamous fights during his time as the shows host.

The exchange was so heated that Rogan joked he thought about ‘killing’ the contestant after they squared up to one another.

Rogan was the host of Fear Factor when it launched on TV in 2001 and he continued to work on the show for seven years until it was dropped by NBC.

The series witnessed contestants take part in a series of dares and stunts while competing for a cash prize.

It has been reported that Rogan, who now works as a UFC commentator and podcaster, earned around $15 million during the 148 Fear Factor episodes he recorded.

During the tenth episode of Fear Factor season six, contestants were involved in a physical altercation with one another after doing a stunt.

The task involved a husband and wife double act attempting to work together to complete a series of challenges in water.

In the stunt, another contestant outside of the challenge continuously jeered the pair, taunting and yelling at the guy things like ‘she’s dead weight’ and ‘you deserve better’.

The wife had enough of the abuse she was taking after the stunt and punched the contestant, named Jonny Fairplay, in the chest to silence him.

Things started to get heated so Rogan, who now holds a black belt in two different jiu jitsu systems, took matters into his own hands.

“You can’t go around hitting people,” Rogan said as he recalled the incident. “Just because you hit your husband doesn’t mean you can hit other people.

“[The husband] gets right in my face, like right here. He goes: ‘Hey, hey, hey!’ And I push him, and he goes: ‘I dare you to touch me again’. I push him again.

“Then I’m like: ‘What? What, b****? What? Because I think now we’re fighting.”

Both Rogan and the contested squared up to each other, before the former grabbed the man by his neck.

Another contestant, who turned out to be WWE superstar The Miz was then forced to rush over and break up the brawl before it escalated any further.

“After yelling at his wife the entire time, he’s sticking up for her,” The Miz said.

“And then all of a sudden they start going at it, and I’m like: ‘I gotta break this thing up, because Joe’s gonna kill him.”

The Miz managed to separate Rogan and the contestant before emotions settled.

“It was never really a fight,” Rogan added. “Like, I never really hit him, and he never really hit me. But I was trying to get him to hit me.

“I’m thinking this is all still going to get on television. So I’m trying to, like, keep calm. Right.

“And he’s in my face. I’m like: ‘How am I going to keep from killing this guy?’”

MMA fans who know Rogan possesses an elite level of mixed martial arts in his arsenal were thankful the contestant eventually stepped in.

One responded to a clip of the episode on YouTube saying: “That guy has no idea how close he was to being dummied very quickly.”

While another added: “At this time nobody knew how well trained Joe Rogan actually was.”

Rogan has been an MMA enthusiast since his childhood and has trained in karate, taekwondo and kickboxing, with brief spells in amateur competitions too.

Some of the worst challenges from his time at Fear Factor included contestants consuming an entire bowlful of a dead rat that had been blended into a smoothie style drink, as well as team members sitting in a bathtub full of leeches.

Another episode during season six had contestants tasked with drinking pint amounts of both urine and semen from donkeys.

NBC’s parent company Comcast demanded the episode, which supposedly caused the show to be cancelled, not be aired on TV and a rerun was put in its place.
