WWE has bolstered its already stacked roster with a major new addition ahead of Saturday’s Royal Rumble.

There are just days to go until the company officially kicks off its exhilarating WrestleMania ‘season’ with the showpiece Rumble event.

This year, it emanates from Indianapolis with a record-breaking crowd of more than 60,000 set to attend to see just who will punch their proverbial ticket to Mania and a potential title opportunity.

A staple part of the Royal Rumble experience for fans at Lucas Oil Stadium and the undoubted millions who’ll watch worldwide on Netflix is, of course, the surprises that litter the show – from major comebacks, unexpected cameos and impressive debuts as Triple H and his team put out the first major Premium Live Event of 2025.

For such a high-profile Rumble, it’s perhaps no surprise that fans are expecting plenty of that good stuff on Saturday. Some major backstage updates during this potentially explosive week suggested are suggesting that’s precisely what’s ahead, not least with the potential for a return to action for a multi-time former world champion.

According to PWInsider, AJ Styles, who won the WWE Championship in the UK in 2017, is ‘slated to be in Indianapolis’, with officials hopeful he’ll be cleared to feature in the men’s Rumble match after a four-month lay-off due to injury.

The 47-year-old, widely regarded as one of the finest performers of his generation, has been out of action since last Autumn with a ‘challenging’ foot injury.

The idea of a comeback at the weekend has gone down very nicely with fans, one posting on X: “The Phenomenal One is back! AJ Styles in the Royal Rumble would be epic. Let’s get ready for some phenomenal moments!” Another simply beamed: “The GOAT is returning.”

Styles memorably made his WWE debut at this very event back in 2016, his hotly anticipated debuts one of the highlights of the show, Saturday’s occasion hopefully acting as a nice full-circle moment for the decorated veteran.

Another face who could be in line to make a WWE debut – of sorts – at Royal Rumble is the company’s newest recruit Jordynne Grace, the highly sought-after former TNA star.

Fightful has reported that the three-time Knockouts Champion has put pen to paper with the company, who were said to be keen to swoop and secure her services after a string of impressive guest appearances in WWE.

As part of a crossover of talent, Grace appeared in the 2024 women’s Rumble, returning later in the year for cameos on NXT. Now, though, she’s reportedly with WWE for good, the outlet noting they’d “…learned that WWE had made their interest known and made the offer a couple of weeks before Grace finished up, with TNA fully aware that Grace would be leaving the company.”

The site added: “Those we spoke to in WWE said that Grace was signed almost immediately after her last match in TNA, and that they didn’t want to let her get to free agency.”

WWE are doing a fine job of stacking the card for the women and men’s Rumble matches. Charlotte Flair has already confirmed as a returnee for this weekend’s bout where Bianca Belair, Naomi, Bayley and Nia Jax also await, while the men’s line-up includes LA Knight, CM Punk, John Cena, Roman Reigns and Logan Paul.

Added to that, the night’s other bouts are headlined by the Undisputed WWE Championship ladder match between Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens.

Royal Rumble should be an intriguing watch and maybe, just maybe, it’ll be Phenomenal.
