Yoane Wissa was Brentford’s star man once again as his double helped see off Bournemouth in a five-goal thriller on Saturday afternoon.

The 28-year-old now boasts seven Premier League goals this season, with the striker scoring in each of his four Bees home matches so far.

Thomas Frank’s men came from behind to grind out a 3-2 win at the Gtech Community Stadium, with Wissa scoring in either half.

The DR Congo international’s first goal in the 27th minute got his side back on level terms after finding the back of the net with a clinical header.

And his delicate dink over Kepa Arrizabalaga in the 58th minute proved to be the winner to lift Brentford into tenth spot.

It means Wissa has now banged in 15 non-penalty goals in 2024.

Only Erling Haaland has scored more with 20.

Wissa’s heroics mean that he has been more prolific than Mohamed Salah and Cole Palmer when you take away penalties.

In his four home matches this term he has chipped in with six goals and one assist.

With seven goals, he is now tied with Liverpool’s Salah and Chelsea’s Palmer in the goal scoring charts for the 2024/25.

Only Chris Wood, Bryan Mbuemo and Haaland have found the back of the net more.

Brentford fans were expecting a tough clash against Bournemouth, with the visiting side having beaten Arsenal and Manchester City in recent weeks.

But the Cherries knew they were up against a rampant Brentford, who had scored 19 Premier League goals heading into the fixture.

In their previous two home league games, they had beaten Ipswich 4-3 before overcoming Wolves in a 5-3 triumph.

It was Bournemouth who took the lead early in the match with Evanilson slotting home the opener 17 minutes in.

Wissa then scored his sixth of the season with a calmly nodded in equaliser as things went level into the break.

In the second half, it took Bournemouth just four minutes from a well-worked short corner routine that led Justin Kluivert to poke the Cherries in front.

Within a minute, the scores were level again through Mikkel Damsgaard who opened his Premier League scoring account.

And it was Wissa who scored the winner just before the hour-mark in what proved to be another thrilling encounter at Brentford.

The win takes Brentford just into the top half of the Premier League table, with Bournemouth just one point behind in 11th.

Brentford will face Everton at Goodison Park after the international break.
