Jason Cundy continued his Tottenham ribbing rampage in a hilarious exchange with a fan after Spurs’ victory over Manchester City.

Chelsea fan Cundy has a night to forget after the Blues were dumped out of the Carabao Cup at Newcastle on Wednesday night.

But it was a contrasting evening for Ange Postecoglou’s men who saw off Manchester City 2-1 to book their place in the quarter final.

Spurs are without a trophy since their EFL Cup success in 2008, however Wednesday’s victory over the Premier League champions got fan Mike dreaming of an end to his team’s long-running trophy drought.

Mike contacted the Sports Bar after the match to speak to hosts Cundy and Jamie O’Hara and what began as a Tottenham themed discussion quickly turned into some good natured rivalry banter.

After the news broke that Spurs had been handed a quarter-final home tie against Manchester United, a confident Mike said: “Brilliant, we’ll smash them. We’ll tear them to pieces.

Cundy, who rarely misses an opportunity to fire shots at the north London club, was quick off the mark in an attempt to bring the fan back down to earth with a huge bump.

“You’re still Spurs, Michael. When are you going to get used to that?,” Cundy responded.

But Mike came fully armed and ready to take on the talkSPORT host who was reeling from his side’s 2-0 defeat at St James’ Park.

“Come on Cundy, you can’t talk after tonight’s performance, you’re having a little cry in the corner there,” said the Spurs fan.

Cundy dug deeper and fired back, saying: “How many titles have you seen?”

Mike replied: “Don’t even go there Cundy, there’s no need for that is there? I’m 43, don’t ruin it for me.”

It all became too much for Cundy after the fan predicted Spurs would win the Carabao Cup

It didn’t end there. Asked how he sees Tottenham fairing in this season’s Carabao Cup, Mike said. “I think we will win it.”

It all became too much for Cundy who interrupted with his head in his hands, saying: “You lot never learn do you? All you need to know is, you’re just Spurs.”

“Were in the next round,” Mike responded to which Cundy replied, “You know what that means? More disappointment.”

It was all good natured fun between the pair for the time being but it remains to be seen whether a high-anticipated sequel will air on talkSPORT following Chelsea’s trip to Spurs on December 8.

Meanwhile, Newcastle’s reward for seeing off Enzo Maresca’s side is a home tie against Brentford.

Premier League strugglers Southampton face Liverpool at St Mary’s while Arsenal host Crystal Palace at the Emirates with all ties taking place on December 17/18.
