Professional wrestling can be a brutal business.

WWE stars put their bodies on the line each and every time they step into the ring, and that means injuries are inevitable – just ask new arrival Penta.

The Mexican luchador landed in WWE last month, having spent five years with AEW, and wasted no time settling in.

He has quickly become a breakout star of Raw’s new Netflix era, and is undefeated in singles competition since his debut on January 13.

Penta has already beaten the likes of Pete Dunne, Chad Gable and Ludwig Kaiser, and even put in an ‘Iron Man’ performance in this year’s Royal Rumble.

He lasted longer than any one else in that match – competing for more than 40 minutes – before being eliminated.

Penta has already impressed in his short time with WWE, and it turns out he’s been wrestling with a gruesome injury.

This week, the luchador joined WWE veteran Sheamus for an episode of his Celtic Warrior Workouts.

The pair hit the gym and began with a game of handball, before moving on to weight training.

As Penta showed off his curls, he revealed that he has ‘a broken bicep.’

“You want to know something? I broke my arm,” he explained after the workout.

Sheamus then asked if he had torn his bicep, to which Penta replied, ‘Yeah.’

“Three years ago, one wrestler kicked me, and broke my bicep,” he added, confirming that he never got it fixed, and that it’s still torn.

“You’re a lunatic,” Sheamus responded, appearing shocked at the admission.

The clip of Penta discussing his injury was shared by Sheamus on his social media, and has since been viewed more than 600,000 times.

Many fans agreed with his ‘lunatic’ assessment.

“Penta is unhinged,” one person responded.

“What a warrior,” another said.

“Penta out here putting on bangers with one bicep,” a third wrote, referencing his recent matches.

“He literally lives and breathes zero fear,” a fourth fan concluded.

Penta isn’t the only WWE star to wrestle with a gruesome injury in recent years.

In June 2022, Cody Rhodes tore his pectoral muscle completely off the bone while working out ahead of a Hell in a Cell match against Seth Rollins.

Despite the injury, he still showed up for the bout, and stunned the audience when he removed his gear to reveal the entire right side of his chest and much of his right arm was badly bruised.

Rhodes and Rollins went on to put on an unforgettable match, with images from the night becoming iconic.

Days later, he underwent successful surgery to repair his pectoral tendon, and was sidelined for eight months.

Rhodes has since gone on to become the Undisputed WWE Champion.

Penta’s injury is clearly different to the one Rhodes suffered in 2022, and despite never getting it fixed, he insists he is fine to train and wrestle.
