It was the fifth year in a row of the El Partidazo game, which sees Spanish and French influencers and content creators come together to raise money.

But the game became marred and was halted after a supporter was accused of aiming a monkey gesture towards French professional gamer Brawks.

Footage shows him jumping over the pitch’s barrier to confront the fan, who was later escorted out by security.

As well as Brawks’ French teammates, Spanish YouTuber Koko DC also shouted at supporters, asking them to stop the racist abuse.

Koko later was seen visibly upset and breaking down in tears, with the referee and his teammates consoling him.

France’s players left the pitch in protest.

The referee intervened, then, grabbing a microphone to stop the abuse and warn that the game would be called off if the racist abuse persisted.

After a good reception from the crowd at the referee’s request and a 17 minute delay, France returned to the field and the game continued.

Spain won the game 2-0 in front of the 70,000 fans in attendance.

Relaying what happened after the game, Brawks said: “A Spaniard gave me the finger, I gave him a heart back. He then made a monkey gesture.

“I got angry, I asked him to make the monkey gesture again.

“He sat down, he acted like he had done nothing but he knew very well what he had done. His friends tried to cover for him.

“I love sport and the values it promotes – racism has no place in sport or in everyday life.

“A lot of players on the team really wanted to stop the match. I’m not going to lie, I was very disgusted, I had tears in my eyes. We saw Koko who was very sad, who couldn’t hold back his tears.”

France player Amine also condemned the behaviour of the fan.

“As content creators, we are not saying we are going to play high-level football, we are here to produce things, set an example.

“What happened outside of sport tonight is unacceptable, we will always be here to fight that.

“I thank some Spanish players who were exemplary and came to me and said ‘we’re stopping the match with you’.”

This year, Spanish anti-racism campaigners have called on the country’s institutions to do more to crack down on racism in football.

In June, three people were sentenced to eight months in prison after being found guilty of racially abusing Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr in a match against Valencia in May 2023.

That was the first conviction for racist insults in a football stadium in Spain.

The fans were spotted making gestures and shouting chants of a racist nature.
